Introduction to Education Consulting in Cross-Cultural Settings: Part I – Independent Study
*This course is a required prerequisite for all Level I and II courses AND for PACE certification; it may be taken simultaneously with a Level II course.
This four module course includes information and assignments related to the following topics:
- TCKs and transitions
- University preparation and re-entry issues
- Educational planning
- Students will need online access for approximately two hours per module in order to download materials and interact with classmates
- Coursework will take approximately three to four hours per module to complete
- Maximum amount of time allowed for this Independent Study is eight weeks (up to two weeks per module)
- Once you register for this course, an Independent Study Contract will be emailed to you along with information about your Independent Study Facilitator.

Introduction to Education Consulting in Cross-Cultural Settings: Part II– Independent Study
* Prerequisite: Intro. to Education Consulting in Cross-Cultural Settings: Part I. This course is a required prerequisite for all Level II courses AND for PACE certification; it may be taken simultaneously with a Level II course.
This four module course includes information and assignments related to the following topics:
- Helping families choose between options
- Home education (home schooling)
- National schools
- International schools
- Students will need online access for approximately two hours per module in order to download materials and interact with classmates
- Coursework will take approximately three to four hours per module to complete
- Maximum amount of time allowed for this Independent Study is eight weeks (up to two weeks per module)
- Once you register for this course, an Independent Study Contract will be emailed to you along with information about your Independent Study Facilitator.

- Emerging skills and literacy
- Learning styles
- Special needs
- Core consulting skills
- Students will need online access for approximately two hours per module in order to download materials and interact with classmates
- Coursework will take approximately three to four hours per module to complete
- Maximum amount of time allowed for this Independent Study is eight weeks (up to two weeks per module)
- Once you register for this course, an Independent Study Contract will be emailed to you along with information about your Independent Study Facilitator.

Multilingualism Issues – Independent Study
*Prerequisite: Student must have completed or be simultaneously enrolled in Introduction to Education Consulting (Parts 1-3)
This six module course includes information and assignments related to the following topics:
- First Language Acquisition and Growth
- Second Language Acquisition
- A Bilingual Family Environment
- Levels of Language Acquisition & the Interface with Culture
- Language Impairments
- Students will need online access for approximately two hours per module in order to download materials and interact with classmates
- Coursework will take approximately three to four hours per module to complete
- Maximum amount of time allowed for this Independent Study is 12 weeks (up to two weeks per module)
- Once you register for this course, an Independent Study Contract will be emailed to you along with information about your Independent Study Facilitator.

Special Educational Needs- Independent Study
*Prerequisite: Student must have completed or be simultaneously enrolled in Introduction to Education Consulting (Parts 1-3)

- Foundations of Special Needs Education
- Foreign Language Learning
- Educational Planning for Transitions
- Educational Planning Across Environments
- Interpersonal Skills and Relating to Families of Children with Special Needs
- Strategies and Resources for Consultants and Families
- Students will need online access for approximately two hours per module in order to download materials and interact with classmates
- Coursework will take approximately three to four hours per module to complete
- Maximum amount of time allowed for this Independent Study is ten weeks (up to two weeks per module)
